Pic: Is this the first ever sighting of Premier League letters and numbers on the back of a GAA county jersey?

Controversial

Conor Heneghan

This guy has a lot to answer for.

People in the hurling community often make the argument that squad numbers and names on the back of county jerseys should be introduced.

It’s an understandable argument, as it will help increase exposure of inter-county hurlers, whose faces are often hidden by the necessary wearing of helmets on the pitch.

Maybe it is something that will be introduced some day, maybe it isn’t.

Still, we’re not sure we’re huge fans of the practise of GAA fans taking matters into their own hands and getting Premier League-style names and numbers printed on the back of ther jerseys, like this one spotted outside Semple Stadium on Sunday.

It’s nothing against the Premier League, of course, but are we the only ones who think that this just doesn’t look right?

Textbook folding up of the match programme and placing it in the back pocket by the way, credit where it’s due after all.

Hat-tip to Eoin Daly for sending this one our way
