Bitter rivalries don’t get much more polite than this.
The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is one of the most bitter in football and it is likely to rear its head once again when the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Liverpool, of course, have a massive game before then when they take on Basel and attempt to secure qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League tonight and beforehand, Jamie Carragher asked his Liverpool-supporting followers which of the two important games they’d rather win.
While doing so, he couldn’t resist a mild dig at Manchester United fans by reminding them of their lowly finish in the league last season…
Question for Lfc fans- win tonight or Sunday? Tonight for me, rather qualify for the CL than beat the 7th best team in the Prem last season!

Carragher’s Monday Night Football colleague Gary Neville is as passionate about Manchester United as Carragher is about Liverpool, of course and (hours later) he hit back with a mild dig of his own.
@Carra23 what if you lose both? Just a thought.
