If you’re in any way squeamish, look away now.
People who watch the UFC on a regular basis know that painful injuries come with the territory, but there was one suffered last night that would cause even the most hardened observer to look away in terror.
Matt Mitrione was caught with what were deemed accidental pokes to the eye during his heavyweight clash with Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night Boston and the damage inflicted was increased when Browne unleashed a barrage of punches that caused the fight to be stopped during the third round.
Once it was over, everyone got to see just how badly Mitrione’s eye had been affected; when we say it’s like he had a golf ball wedged under his eyelid, we are not exaggerating whatsoever.
We’d advise you not to look at the following images while eating your breakfast.
I'm sorry I lost tonight. If this was my last fight, I wanted to go out on my shield. The eye pokes had an effect but things happen
