PIC: Mayo man brings giant radio to Croke Park to make sure he doesn’t miss a bit of the action

On the wireless

Old habits die hard.

With no live commentary for people attending GAA matches, fans have to seek alternative methods for another perspective of what’s going on out on the pitch.

A lot of people would use Twitter or some of other form of Internet updates these days, but some GAA fans have been using the wireless for generations and they’re not about to stop because of advances in modern technology.

You’ll still often see fans listening to radio commentary via headphones, but one Mayo fan in Croke Park went the whole nine yards yesterday, keeping a decent-sized radio pinned to his ear for radio updates throughout the game.

Rumour has it the same fan was spotted ringing home afterwards to deliver news about the disappointing result…
