Pic: Nothing says GAA Junior B quite like a team losing the actual Leinster cup trophy after a dinner dance

Must have been a good night in Westmeath

Paul Moore

Must have been a good night in Westmeath.

Every member of a GAA team should know what the crest on their jersey, regardless if it’s for parish, club or county, is an immense source of pride.

Famous wins, memories and trophies are sewn into the fabric of that jersey but this club in Westmeath seem to have a fairly relaxed approach when it comes to keeping an eye on one of their most cherished trophies.

The Moate All Whites in Westmeath were having a dinner dance recently in the Moate Grand Hotel and they had an array of trophies on display for the patrons to see.

We don’t know what happened next but we can only speculate.

Maybe someone had a few too many sherries?

Perhaps a member of a rival team managed to sneak in like a ninja and ‘borrow’ the cup or maybe some of the team just took the Leinster Cup off the table and started chugging Buckfast straight out of it.

Whatever happened, it led to this message being sent out to those in attendance.

No need to worry because the cup has since been found but we really want to know why it magically disappeared. Does anyone have any leads or clues?

Thanks to JOE reader Keith O’Brien for sending this in.
