PIC: The Irish emojis we’ll all be using during the Rugby World Cup have landed

It’s nearly here

Get tweeting folks.

After a long, long, long build-up, the Rugby World Cup finally gets underway this weekend and while we’re currently in the calm before the storm, rugby fans will be right in the thick of it for the next six weeks.

Fans lucky enough to be there and those of us watching on television will be furiously tweeting our support for Joe Schmidt’s men throughout.

From this evening on, the use of certain hashtags on Twitter will come with an accompanying emoji to further illustrate our support. These things matter lads.

A selection of rugby-themed emojis will be on rotation when the #RWC2015 hashtag is used throughout the tournament…

…while each of the 20 competing nations will have their own emoji flag in the form of a rugby ball with the national flag inside.

This, for example, is what will show up when Irish fans tweet #IRE or #ShoulderToShoulder.

With mere days to go until the start of the tournament proper, no emoji can properly convey our excitement about what’s ahead.
