The ACT Brumbies suffered defeat at the hands of the visiting Crusaders yesterday, but we thoroughly enjoyed one photograph in particular.

The Brumbies sit top of the pile in the Super XV despite their defeat in what was just their second loss of the season, but looked shorn of ideas against an impressive Crusaders outfit. The New Zealanders ran in three tries with Dan Carter kicking 15 points in a 30-23 win, but it was one particular photograph, and more to the point the caption that caught our eye.
It comes from the Canberra Times, so we can appreciate that the local media wanted to put the Brumbies in the best possible light, but we think they stretched the truth to the last with their take on Robbie Fruean flooring Aussie Matt Toomua with a hand-off.

From a Lions perspective, back-row George Smith was in imperious form for the Brumbies and received a standing ovation from the crowd after becoming the club’s most capped ever player. He looks certain to be named in the Wallabies squad for the series and will give whatever Lions backrow that is selected a difficult day at the office.
