After their commanding 2-13 to 0-11 win against Donegal on Saturday, the hype machine around Mayo will undoubtedly be turned up another notch.
Of course this is something that GAA fans aren’t used to because the famous ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ campaign has almost become as synonymous with the Connacht champions as their long wait to lift Sam Maguire.
I’m sure that Mayo fans aren’t getting ahead of themselves just yet, history can be a cruel teacher, but that hasn’t stopped some famous ‘casual’ supporters from getting joining an illustrious list of people on the ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ bandwagon.
Liam Gallagher, Dave Grohl and even Harry Redknapp have given their support but none of these men played in a World Cup final, are a darling of the Kop or scored ‘that’ goal against Holland at Lansdowne Road.
