The best in Irish sport was celebrated.
Rory McIlroy was named the RTÉ Sportsperson of the Year for the second time last night.
2014 has been incredible for McIlroy having won two Majors and the Ryder Cup, well deserved and hopefully it’ll make up for missing out on the BBC SPOTY award.
Former Ireland and Leinster rugby star Brian O’Driscoll picked up the RTÉ/Irish Sports Council Hall of Fame Award.

The Team of the Year award was won by the Cork Ladies Football team who have won nine of the last ten All-Ireland Senior titles.
It’s an incredible achievement by manager Eamonn Ryan and all the players.
The other big award on the night was the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year which was scooped by the Ireland coach Joe Schmidt.
