PICS: Two Irish fans partied with Martin Skrtel and Marek Hamsik in Coppers last night

Conor Heneghan

And they’re only the owners of one of the best Irish flags ever seen.

If you were in the Aviva for Ireland’s ridiculously entertaining draw with Slovakia last night, you might have set eyes upon one of the best safe-sex themed Jon Walters flags you’re ever likely to see.

It belonged to Ashbourne natives Jack Toohey and Cian Croghan, who happened to run into our esteemed editor Paddy McKenna before kick-off.

Meeting that handsome devil was only one of the highlights of what turned out to be quite a night for Jack and Cian.

After a last-minute decision on the way home to head for Coppers (how many of us have been guilty of that?), they ended up being the life and soul of the party and bumped heads with Slovakia duo Marek Hamsik and Martin Skrtel as well as a host of Irish players.

We’ll let Jack take up the story…

“We went to the game with ‘Johnny’s got you covered (our flag for France)’ and afterwards, when walking back to get the 11:30 bus back to Ashbourne, my mate Cian thought it would be a savage idea to go to Coppers. So off we went.

We heard that the Irish lads were up in some VIP area so we decided to get Johnny out of the cloakroom and try and sneak up to them but the bouncers got to us straight away. We went back into Coppers and a load of boys were dancing with it and going mad.

Then, in the corner of my eye, I spotted David Meyler and Ciaran Clark and they invited us over for a drink because they loved the flag. Before we knew it, we were at a table with the two boys, their mates and Skrtel and Hamsik and then we then went into a private room with all the lads.

They couldn’t have been nicer to us, especially Ciaran Clark and his mates; they completely took us under their wing and were absolute gents! Certainly a night to remember.”

And you thought you had a good night in Coppers last night.

Cheers to Jack Toohey for sending this one our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102, editorial@JOE.ie or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
