Ciaran O’ Lionaird notched up another fine result as he builds up to the London Olympics with a win in Boston last night, beating superstar Mo Farah in the process.

O’ Lionaird shot to fame when he blitzed his way to the final of the 1,500m at the World Athletics Championships last year and he has started 2012 in similar form.

Last night’s New Balance Boston Mile is one of the biggest races of the US indoor circuit and Great Britain’s 5,000 and 10,000m star Mo Farah was in the race to work on his finishing speed.

But O’Lionaird ran a superb race, taking over in the final 200 to win in a time of 3:56.01, with Farah back in fourth.

The man himself tweeted about the result overnight

The Olympics may still be off in the distance but we are getting excited about the potential that O’Lionaird has. Roll on the summer.
