Typical honesty from the Ireland legend

Ronan O’Gara has told Off The Ball that his rugby opponents saw him as a “bit of a wanker.”

The legendary Irish outhalf was speaking on the Off The Ball Roadshow in the Cork Opera House, where he also nailed his colours to the mast regarding who should play in his old position at the World Cup.

“I think Paddy Jackson is more capable of starting a game than Ian Madigan at the minute because he’s played more rugby there.

“Ian Madigan needs to play more at No 10 because it’s a position where you need minutes,” said O’Gara.

On his own reputation for Munster and Ireland, he was typically forthright, while he was also expressed how much he’s loving life in the TV studio.

“The perception of me when I was playing was cranky, narky, arrogant, bit of a w**ker I’d say,” he said.

On his role as a pundit, he added: “I essentially get paid to sit on my arse and watch the team. It’s great. You live like a king. You’ve great facilities, you sit down, you’ve runners getting you tea, coffee, purple snacks, yellow snacks, sandwiches, chips.”
