Shamrock Rovers secured the Airtricty League title after a dramatic night at the Carlisle Grounds and a Dalymount Park.

Bray Wanderers 2-2 Shamrock Rovers

Rovers went into the match knowing a win would guarantee them the championship, while a draw would require rivals Bohemians to defeat Dundalk by five clear goals to snatch the title from the Hoops grasp.

Bray shocked Rovers in the 20th minute, however, when Jake Kelly lobbed Alan Mannus. The prolific Gary Twigg equalised for Shamrock Rovers in the 41st minute with his first shot of the game.

Twigg played in former Derry City player Thomas Stewart, who put Rover ahead. Bray weren’t finished yet, however, and Gary Shaw headed past Mannus to ensure a nervy end to the game.

The game finished 2-2, and as Bohemians could only defeat Dundalk 3-1, it was enough for Michael O’Neill’s side to capture the Airtricity League on goal difference.
