James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman are at the centre of this row…
Ireland’s disappointing defeat to Scotland in Euro 2016 qualifying on Friday night must be put to one side this week as the focus turns to the USA for tomorrow night’s friendly at the Aviva.
Irish assistant manager Roy Keane spoke about the game at a press conference over the weekend and he has some very interesting views on the fitness of Everton duo Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy.
“You always get the impression from Everton that Seamus and James are both barely able to walk. When they actually turn up and they are walking through the reception, “Praise the Lord, it’s a miracle”.”
Keane was then asked about the attitude of Everton manager Martinez to Ireland…
“I don’t think he ever played at senior international level and maybe doesn’t appreciate how big it is for us and how big the games are for us.”
Ouch. Be interesting to hear what Martinez has to say back to that.
Hat-tip to Daily Mail.
