Roy’s not Keane on RTE switch

Bad news for Billo and the boys on RTE, as it is reported today that Roy Keane won’t be joining them for Euro 2012.

It had been rumoured that the Cork man was going to be signed up by the national broadcaster to offer his analysis of the Irish games in Poland. Bill O’Herlihy and even old friend Eamon Dunphy had spoken about how they hoped he might join them in the studio too.

But the Irish Daily Star reports today that the ex-Manchester United man is staying with ITV for the tournament. The paper quotes a source close to Roy who says “he enjoys working with ITV and he has built up a very good relationship with the other analysts and commentators”.

We’re not so sure as we can see Roy going for Adrian Chiles one of these days when he tries to be funny and fails but for now all is harmonious in the ITV camp.

With the English station covering two of the Irish games – the BBC will have the other – we can still watch Roy’s views on Trap’s performance but that means turning your back on John Giles and the lads.

Would you do it?
