Rounding off our Six Nations previews are Scotland. They’ll probably come last in the actual competition too.

How’s the form?

Not great. There have been a lot of bad things written about Scottish rugby in recent seasons, justifiably so, but perhaps we’re being a bit harsh.

In the World Cup just gone, losses to England and Argentina by a combined total of a measly five points saw them exit at the pool stage. In the last Six Nations, a home win against Italy prevented them from the humiliation of failing to score a single point, but they did give Ireland and England scares and gave a decent account of themselves against France in Paris.

Domestically, Edinburgh qualified for the latter stages of the Heineken Cup for the first time in eight seasons, while as it stands, Glasgow Warriors are in line for a place in the Rabo12 play-offs. So not great, but getting better.

The Star:

Richie Gray. Standing as he does at 6’10”, Richie Gray is obviously a useful lineout option, but he’s more than that to the current Scots side. At only 22 he’s already a leader, is a good ball-carrying option and has popped up with a few tries for Glasgow as well.

He’s also soon to become one of the highest paid-players in Europe when he heads to Sale Sharks in the summer. Could you imagine being caught in a sandwich between him and Tony Buckley? We mean a tackle, of course. What the hell did you think we were on about?

The Kit Kat Chunky Hard Yards Man:

Captain Ross Ford is a dynamic operator in the front row and was Scotland’s only representative on the last Lions tour.

The Scots boast an orange-themed “national drink” and have worn bright orange gear in the past, so as a nation they’re the perfect fit for Kit Kat Chunky Orange, right?

New Kid On The Block:

21-year old, South African-raised flanker David Denton is making his first international start against England on Saturday and at 6’ 5” and 18 stone, he’ll be a hard man to stop when he builds up some momentum.

The WAG to watch: Katy Johnson

The stunning US actress and model is currently doing a line with Scottish winger Max Evans. The Evans family certainly know how to pull the ladies. Max’s brother Thom (retired due to injury) is going out with the absolutely fabulous Kelly Brook.

The Dates:

4th Feb: v England (h)

12th Feb: v Wales (a)

26th Feb: v France (h)

10th March: v Ireland (a)

17th March: v Italy (a)

If they were a Rocky film, they would be: Rocky V: Completely lacking in inspiration and terribly hard to watch.

The JOE/Kit Kat Chunky Verdict: Dead last. The Calcutta Cup opener against a very green England side gives them the chance to build up some momentum, but if they lose that one, they could well be on a slippery slope thereafter.

If that scenario does materialise, it will come down to the final day clash with Italy in Rome and the Scots could well be coming home from that one with their tail between their legs and a wooden-spoon shaped marks on their backsides.

Which is your favourite in the Kit Kat Chunky Champion search? You’re an Orange-loving type of fella, right? Or maybe it’s Peanut Butter? Or what about the Chocs, Double and White? You can vote for your favourite over at the Kit Kat Facebook page.
