The Champions League just got interesting…

St Patrick’s Athletic could be facing a mouth-watering encounter with Celtic in next round of Champions League if they get past Legia Warsaw.

Pats were so unlucky not to come away from Poland with a win but Christy Fagan’s away goal could prove to be a massive moment in this tie.

Liam Buckley’s men could be facing the Scottish champions or KR Reykjavík in the next round – Celtic hold a 1-0 lead in that game – if they can get past Legia in the return leg at Inchicore.

JOE is sure that the League of Ireland winners wont be looking past their upcoming game against the Polish champions but that won’t stop their fans from dreaming of a potential clash with the Glasgow giants.

Pats do have recent European history with the Hoops; the two clubs were paired in the ’98 Champions League qualifiers. Celtic were expected to claim a comfortable win on their home turf but Pat’s managed to keep Henrik Larsson and company at bay.

The Saints lost the return leg 2-0 at Tolka Park and with memories of those encounters still fresh in the minds of many fans, the prospect of another meeting is something that everyone associated with the League of Ireland would love to see.

The Europa League draw, featuring Sligo Rovers, Derry City and Dundalk, is set to take place at 1pm today.
