Last weekend was a cautionary tale: two picks from GAA, two picks from soccer. We got the GAA ones right and embarrassed ourselves when it came to the Premier League. So you live and learn – here’s this week’s accumulator. It could get you €270 for a tenner.
Leinster to get the better of Munster in the RaboDirect PRO 12 (Evens)
The Leinster and Munster teams were announced on Friday and we reckon Leinster are going to shade it. Yes, it’s in Thomond but Munster are without Paul O’Connell, Donnacha Ryan and Conor Murray and Leinster have a mighty bench, with Sean O’Brien, Cian Healy, Leo Cullen, Fergus McFadden and the increasingly excellent Ian Madigan all to be unleashed in the second half. The Heineken Cup champions to shade it before the provinces turn their attention to the quarter-finals of the main event on Easter Weekend.
Crossmaglen to get the job done (Cross to lead at half-time, win at full-time @ 8/15)
The All-Ireland club final ended in a dramatic draw at Croker on St Patrick’s Day but Crossmaglen looked the stronger the longer that one went on and they should get the job done in the replay. Jamie Clarke missed a couple of clear goal chances last time out; you get the feeling Garrycastle won’t be so lucky this time.
Diarmuid Connolly to score a goal against Mayo @ 12/5
Connolly has good memories of scoring goals against Mayo – he hit three in the National League this time last year, and has scored four in his last three games (another treble against Armagh and one against Donegal last week). So at odds of 12/5 to hit the net once this time around? We have to have that on our side.
Arsenal to have something to spare against QPR (Arsenal -1 goal to win @ 8/5)
It’s around this time every season, when they’re out of everything and they can let loose, safe in the knowledge that none of what they do actually matters, that Arsenal scan rack up a few scores. Now out of the running in both Premier and Champions League, they’ve won their last six games and can put a few goals on QPR on Saturday afternoon.
