After one bad pick let us down last week, here’s hoping for better judgement this week.
We put our hands up and admit we made a bad choice last week. The FA Cup is gambling kryptonite for me anyway but going for Chelsea against Man City was a bad call. We had faith in Rafa but the fatigue of the Chelsea idea after all the travelling and games in a short period of time took its toll. City were good anyway, but picking Chelsea was a mistake.
After a few weeks of heartbreaking near-misses, it was at least a change that this one was all on me.
Anyway, as we try to finally land this treble after three weeks of getting just two legs, we look to hurling, the Premier League and the snooker to get us on our way.
This week’s treble should be available at odds of around 7/1. Good luck.
Galway to beat Kilkenny, 6/4
It is nearly always folly to go against the Cats but we think their mounting injury list, now with added Michael Fennelly, is set to slow them just a little. The absence of Brian Cody as he recovers from his heart op may be an inspiration to them but we think a virtually fully fit Galway, who have shown a penchant for beating Kilkenny more than most lately, can do the business for us on Sunday.
Four or more goals, Spurs v Man City, 2/1
Neither side is a defensive juggernaut and both have the ability to rack up the goals, especially if Gareth Bale does make an appearance at some point (he’s in the Spurs squad). Tevez and Aguero seem to be in the best form they’ve managed all season and the likes of Vertonghen and Sigurdsson know where the net is too if Bale is out of action.
Spurs last three game shave all finished 2-2, another one would be perfect.
Ronnie O’Sullivan to beat Marcus Campbell, 1/6
The World Snooker Championship breaks off tomorrow and for the next 16 days or so there will be a lot of green baize action to report on. It starts with the four-time, and reigning, world champ Ronnie O’Sullivan as he takes on world No 23 Marcus Campbell. Campbell is playing the best snooker of his career at the mo, and Ronnie has been out of action for over six months, but we just can’t see the Rocket losing at the Crucible.
