The January Sales: 7 of the best Premier League players available for under €10m

Chairmen of the Premier League take note

JOE

There is no value in the January transfer window… apparently.

Most football experts think the winter transfer window is a time when value goes out the window and panic reigns supreme. We would beg to differ.

With just the winnings of tonight’s €10m Lotto jackpot we think we could solve the problems of most Premier League clubs.

Valuations according to TransferMarkt.ie

James Collins – Price €2m – Perfect fit: Newcastle

The West Ham centre-half was Man of the Match when The Hammers defeated Liverpool a couple of weeks ago. ‘The Welsh Maldini’ would be perfect for a club like Newcastle, who are currently relying on an inconsistent Fabricio Coloccini to sure up their defense.

Michel Vorm – Price €5m – Perfect fit: Liverpool

A top-class goalkeeper with Premier League experience…. slightly better than Adam Bogdan, we think you will agree.

Peter Crouch – Price €2m – Perfect fit: Aston Villa

Crouchy is playing second fiddle to Stoke’s collection of fancy Dans at the moment.

A move to Villa would represent good business for both, as Crouch would get regular playing time and Villa would gain a player who actually does have a ‘good touch for a big man’… instead of Rudy Gestede.

Papiss Demba Cissé – Price €8m – Perfect fit: Manchester United

Cissé is a proven Premier League goalscorer and has the poaching instincts which United have so badly missed this season. We reckon most Red Devils’ fans would be happy with any player who could take some of the pressure off Wayne Rooney.

When fit Cissé is one of the most lethal finishers in the league.

Steven Davis – Price €5.5m – Perfect fit: Sunderland

The Northern Ireland star would be perfect for a team like Sunderland.

He does everything Lee Catermole does and more. Plus, he doesn’t jump into horrendous tackles for the fun of it. A workhorse with plenty of skill is exactly what Big Sam and his Black Cats could do with.

Although it would take a hefty pay packet to tempt the Saints regular to the Premier League stragglers.

Ashley Williams – Price €6.5m Perfect fit: Liverpool

Liverpool have solved some of their defensive woes by signing Steven Caulker, but we’re not convinced by the English international. Williams has looked like a top Premier League player for years now and could help the ‘pool rise up the table.

Aiden McGeady – Price €3m – Perfect for: Aston Villa

McGeady has made a name for himself as one of the most frustrating players in the Premier League, but nonetheless we think he could do a job for Villa. Imagine him banging in the balls to Crouchy and Gestede if our dream transfers went through. They’d be safe by March!
