JOE

In the first Weekly Maul podcast of 2011, the lads talk about their contrasting Christmases, preview the weekend’s Heineken Cup action and ponder who might play them in a movie about their life.

In Part Two, the lads reflect on the news that Mickey Rourke is to play Gareth Thomas in a movie about his life, which leads to an interesting discussion about who would play the lead role if the lads were to follow in Thomas’ footsteps and make an autobiographical movie about their rugby careers.

Some interesting names are thrown up and the debate turns into chaos before Rob intervenes and broaches the subject of the recent survey conducted by the Irish Rugby Union Players Association (IRUPA), which revealed that 40 per cent of contracted players felt they have been pressurised into playing while injured.

Malcolm and Johnny speak about their own experiences of injuries and the lads discuss who’s looking good in the Heineken Cup outside of the Irish provinces.
