The 25-year-old has since moved on to West Ham but has been troubled by a series of injuries over the last two seasons, losing his place in the England squad, and now Alan Pardew wants to bring the striker back to St. James’s Park.
£15m is the fee being touted, although Carroll’s wages could be a sticking point.
Will Mario head for London?
What doesn’t seem to be in doubt is the fact that Mario Balotelli will leave AC Milan this summer, with a return to England thought to be his favoured option.
Liverpool have been mentioned but, with the Merseysiders set to snap up Loic Remy over the coming days, it now seems that Arsenal could have a clear path to the enigmatic Italian.

This one seems more far fetched than most but Liverpool are being linked with a move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco, who didn’t exactly set the Bernabeu alight last season.

This one comes from the Sunday Express, who claim that the Rossoneri will pay good money for a winger – still only 27 – who peaked roughly four years ago. That sound you hear is a hand being bitten off.
