We think it’s started to sink in.
Steven Gerrard bade farewell to the Anfield crowd for the last time in a Premier League game today and the reception he received was fitting for a man who will probably go down as the greatest player ever to pull on a red shirt.
Although Liverpool fans knew the day was coming, it was still too much to bear for some as the reality dawned on them that it would be the last time they’d see Gerrard in that famous number 8 shirt on his home turf.
Oh and apparently, a football match took place as well. The score, not that it mattered too much to Stevie G on the day, was 3-1 in favour of Crystal Palace. Granted, it wasn’t the perfect ending to a fairytale career, but c’est la vie.
Not to worry, as today was all about the tributes and for a few hours this afternoon, a significant portion of Twitter had a collective tear in its eye.
Crikey. This is rather emotive. Lovely send-off for one of the game's greats.

Whatever happens at Anfield, #Gerrard is the most gifted, complete player England has produced for the last 15 years. (I'm an Arsenal fan.)
