We love a bit of darts action here on JOE. That’s why we love this bit of brilliance by Michael Van Gerwen in the World Matchplay.

The World Matchplay is taking place in Blackpool this week and last night we we’re lucky enough to see the darts equivalent of the 147 in snooker, the perfect game in baseball, the always thrilling nine-dart finish.

They have become a bit more common in recent years since John Lowe bagged the first televised one in 1984 but we still love seeing them.

Last night, Dutch darter Michael Van Gerwen was playing Steve Beaton and he pulled it off in the ninth leg. Two 180s followed by a marvelous 141 finish did the trick in just under 90 seconds.

Van Gerwen went on to win the match 13-9 and he gets £5,000 for his nine-dart finish.

The clip is worth watching alone for Van Gerwen’s superb celebration. Enjoy.
