Video and Tweets: Steven Gerrard’s apology after his red-card against Man Utd

Admirable but reckless to begin with

Admirable but reckless to begin with.

Today’s meeting between Liverpool and Man Utd at Anfield was everything that you would expect from the two great rivals as Van Gaal’s men stole a march in the race for fourth spot.

While everyone should be talking about the superb performance of Juan Mata, that second goal was out of this world, the main talking point will undoubtedly be Steven Gerrard’s reckless, wild and fully justified red-card that was brandished to him just 45 seconds after being introduced at half-time.

This will most likely be the Liverpool skippers final meeting with Man Utd and he marked it in the worst way possible as his die lost 2-1 to their fierce rivals.

To his credit, Liverpool’s captain did come out immediately to speak with Sky Sports and it’s interesting to say the least.

That didn’t stop Twitter from poking fun at the Liverpool captains expense.
