Occasionally getting in the way of two fellas who know how to land a punch is dangerous enough without one of them nearly knocking you out with a vicious, and intentional, blow.
Because of the need to be up close and personal with the fighters, boxing referees cop a wayward blow from time to time, but it’s practically unheard of that one of the fighters will intentionally lash out at the man in the middle.
Unfortunately for one ref in Slovenia, he happed to be on the end of a fairly powerful left hook from Croatian amateur boxer Kristen Radan in a bout against Blaz Sedej last week.
There was no way Radan could claim the punch was accidental as he had his opponent locked in a headlock at the time and after taking the punch extremely well and clearing his head, the referee in question disqualified Radan immediately and awarded the fight to Sedej.
We can’t help but think he would have been nursing a bruise or two and a pretty nasty headache for a while after the fight though.
Check out the power punch in the video above.
