He paid tribute to a crowd that ‘looked like ants but roared like lions.’

Men’s lightweight gold medal winner Charlie Flynn gave a highly emotional post-fight interview to the BBC after the biggest win of his career on Saturday.

Flynn saved his biggest tribute for his folks, praising his mam for the loads of washing she does to allow him to pursue his dream.

“I couldn’t ask for a better mum. All the washing and the cleaning she does, it’s unbelievable. I go through about 15 T-shirts a day, man,” said Flynn

“She has all my food ready. My dad has sacrificed all his time, his work time, to training me in the mornings. I’d like to thank all of my family, friends, trainers and coaches. They have given me the platform to go out and do this.”
