Ireland had a cracking opening 40 minutes against Argentina, and Craig Gilroy’s debut try was the undoubted highlight.
After a hat-trick last week against Fiji, Craig Gilroy took just 10 minutes to score his first ‘real’ try for Ireland against Argentina at Aviva Stadium.
And what a way to open your Ireland account on your full debut. A lovely pass by Johnny Sexton set the Ulster man on his way but he still had a lot of dancing to do to get to the line.
And dance he did, bamboozling two Argentinian defenders in the process. In fact, the hardest tackle he received was from Sexton in the post-touchdown celebration.
We have a feeling it is the first of many we will see in green from Gilroy and as it stands (Ireland lead 24-9 at the break) the World Cup ranking fears are no longer an issue. Let’s see if Ireland can keep it up.
