A very poignant moment.
27 years after one of the biggest tragedies in the history of sport, a jury returned a verdict on Tuesday morning that the 96 Liverpool fans that lost their lives at Hillsborough were unlawfully killed and that supporter behaviour in no way contributed to the danger.
The verdicts delivered brings justified the long search for the truth on behalf of the families’ victims and officially established that the fault for their tragic deaths lay elsewhere, with the police and the South Yorkshire ambulance service implicated for their role in the tragedy.
It was an emotional day in Warrington for the families of the victims, who gathered outside court and sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ in very poignant scenes captured by journalist David Conn of The Guardian on Tuesday morning.
