Moments when players, or teams, lose their minds on the pitch is the theme for this week’s Top 5 from Down Under.

Thanks to the top man that is Sean Maloney for sending us his handiwork again this week. Sean presents the Top 5 on Fox Sports Australia and this week it is all about what the Aussies call ‘brain fades’ and what we call moments of madness.

It begins with an incident that we Irish might call a little bit stronger than a ‘brain fade’, Schalk Burger’s eye gouge on Luke Fitzgerald on the 2009 Lions tour. From there it improves though, with David Campese’s less than wise decision making during the 1989 Lions tour a particular highlight for us.

The final effort features a brilliant drop goal, but unfortunately the team needed two tries to qualify, so a lash at the posts wasn’t the smartest idea with 13 minutes left. The look on the faces of the players on the bench when Matt Dunning slots over the kick of his life is quality.
