Paddy Power recently released a typically close to the edge advertisement to promote their new Italian website. It didn’t go down too well in Italy, mind.
The bookmakers have never been afraid to ruffle a few feathers and the content of their latest advert has rubbed some Italians up the wrong way. In fact, it’s been banned by three Italian television stations, RAI, Sky Italia and Mediaset, which is owned by the snaky Silvio Berlusconi himself.
So what’s got their knickers in a twist? Well the sight of Jesus Christ himself attempting to cure the ills of Italian football might offend some religious types, while we’d wager that they don’t take too kindly to being reminded of the fact that their players are fond of taking a tumble now and again and that there has been something of a questionable gambling culture pervading the Italian game for yonks.
We don’t want to spoil it all for you so check it out for yourself in the video above, it’s only 30 seconds long and well worth a peek.
