Video: Here’s the thundering collision between Johnny Sexton and Bastareaud

Ireland's Number 10, warrior

Ireland’s Number 10, warrior

To paraphrase George Hamilton’s famous remark, a nation held its breath in the 45th minute of today’s match as Ireland’s returning No 10 Johnny Sexton was on the receiving end of a very rough looking collision with Mathieu ‘The mountain’ Bastareaud.

The man of the match was superb this afternoon, especially his kicking from the tee which was a key factor in Ireland’s 18-11 win.

Five penalties sailed over the bar as the French must have looked on and wished that they had someone as reliable with the boot.

The nations heart was in its mouth though in the 45th minute after this collision, especially since Sexton was playing his first match in three months due to concussion.

In true fashion he manned on and helped keep Ireland’s Grand Sam / Championship dream alive.

Take a look.
