5. Edin Dzeko (Man City v Tottenham)

Spurs were completely done and dusted by the time this one hit the net but after three from inside the six-yard box this was an impressive fourth from the big Bosnian. Skip to 2:54 to check it out.

4. Lucas (Sao Paolo v Santos)

Okay, so the goalkeeping wasn’t great and the defender on the line embarrassed himself but this goal deserves its place in our Top 5 for the skills shown before the ball eventually crossed the line.

3. Gabriel Menez (San Lorenzo v Boca Juniors)

We felt Wojciech Szczesny could have done a bit better with at least one of Rooney’s free kicks for Man Utd but there’s not much any keeper could have done to stop with perfectly executed dead-ball from Argentina.

2. Alexander Kerzhakov (Zenit St Petersburg v FC Krasnodar)

A cracking team goal from Russia. Watch out for the hard industry and defence-splitting pass from Danko Lazovic on the left wing.

1. Ashley Young (Man Utd v Arsenal)

There were plenty of goals raining into the Arsenal end on Sunday but Young’s first at Old Trafford since making the move to Man Utd was the pick of the bunch.
