Jon Jones v Rashad Evans may have topped the bill but it was it was the heavyweight fight between Ben Rothwell and Brendan Schaub that delivered the night’s biggest KO.
UFC 145 from Atlanta was a great card. The battle between the great Jon Jones and Rashad Evans at light-heavy lived up to the hype as the two fighters displayed great levels of skill in the octagon.
In the end Jones won unanimously on the judges’ cards but talk of a rematch, understandably, is already in the air. In the other big one Rory MacDonald handed out a beating to Che Mills, courtesy of his vastly superior ground game.
But it was one of the prelim fights that earned the knockout of the night award and a very nice bonus cheque of $65,000. Ben Rothwell, seemingly under pressure from Brendan Schaub, somehow connected flush with Schaub’s head and floored him in an instant.
As you can see above, Schaub was out of it as soon as he hit the ground. When you get hit by those big boys, it has a big effect.
