Matthew Macklin needed less than one round to dispatch Canadian Joachim Alcine in Las Vegas last night.
Irish middleweight fighter Matthew Macklin got back to winning ways last night with a quick, and stunning, stoppage in Las Vegas.
After losing his last two fights to Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez, the Birmingham-born fighter improved his record to 29-4 with a dominant display against Alcine.
Macklin dropped Alcine twice before the referee stopped the bout with 24 seconds remaining in the first round.
It’s great to see Macklin get a morale-boosting win like this on his Las Vegas debut and another crack at Martinez, who beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr on the same bill last night, is a real possibility.
The action starts at 4.10 in the above video and the stunning first knockdown happens at around 5.50.
