It was only a matter of time before the Honey Badger spawned a series of impersonators and the first one up to the plate doesn’t do a bad job at all.
Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins is only gone to Japan a matter of months and already we miss him terribly. Every time we watch a post-match interview at a sporting event we’re hoping to hear players say they decided to ‘go up the guts into ‘em’ or were ‘sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage’ until they got over the line, but alas, with the Honey Badger gone, it never happens.
Obviously they miss him more in Australia than we do here, but the guys at Rugby HQ have wasted no time in finding his replacement, a young man called Blake Conway from Dubbo in New South Wales, who bears a startling resemblance to his hero and goes by the nickname ‘Mini-Badge’.
Mini-Badge caught up with a bunch of Australian players on their Bush2Bledisloe tour recently and he went off ‘like a bag of cats at a greyhound meeting’ as he adopted the Honey Badger style and quizzed some of Australia’s most well-known rugby players on important matters like the identity of the strongest and most annoying players in the squad and the player who eats the most.
On this evidence we like Mini-Badge’s style and we absolutely love what must be the most Australian introduction we’ve ever seen or heard right at the start of the clip.
