Video: Munster go … blue?

Think of Munster Rugby - what colour comes to mind? A seething mass of red, right? So why have they been dousing themselves in blue paint?

JOE

Think of Munster Rugby. Now, what colour comes to mind?

A seething mass of red, right? A wave of red-clad, maybe even mud-splattered rugby behemoths charging towards some poor English/French dude with a scared look on his face?

Whether it’s the team itself or the thousands of Munster supporters who have almost literally painted the town red on their many trips around the continent over the past decade or so, Munster is quintessentially red.

So how do you make them paint their faces blue, which is so strongly associated their arch-rivals Leinster?

We’d suggest it has to be a right good cause for that to happen – and that’s exactly what’s panned out as part of the Blue September campaign, a growing global initiative designed to encourage men to face up to cancer.

Looking at the above video closely, though, doesn’t it look like a blue-faced James Coughlan is talking through gritted teeth?

Anyway, Blue September will benefit four great charities in Ireland: Cancer Care West, the Prostate Cancer Institute, the Mater Foundation, the Mercy University Hospital Foundation and the Marie Keating Foundation.
