Munster’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Clermont was already going to be tasty enough, but the potential renewal of hostilities between two old rivals has added another layer of spice to the clash.
After he escaped punishment for kicking Dave Kearney in the head during the clash with Leinster in Thomond Park on Saturday, Paul O’Connell will be available for the meeting with the French side on Saturday week.
It’s fair to say that not everyone thought O’Connell should have been let off the hook for his actions, not least Clermont second row Jamie Cudmore, who posted the following tweet late last night.

Cudmore received a number of replies to the post, including one from Clermont team-mate and former Leinster player Nathan Hines, whose response seemed to suggest that Cudmore should know the intricacies of the disciplinary system given his own record in the past.

We doubt O’Connell will pay much attention to Cudmore’s views on the incident, but it will hardly take much to stoke the rivalry between the pair of them given what happened in Thomond Park nearly five years ago.
Much like the game itself, the clash between O’Connell and Cudmore alone will be tasty and we can’t wait to see it.
