Shane Lowry dropped by the Irish hotel to teach them some golf tricks. The lads all took part and Sean O’Brien got the hang of it, but at a price.
Down time for the Irish rugby team has to be filled, and not with the sort of stuff most of us get up to either. So when golfer Shane Lowry popped into the Irish team hotel to show them some golf tricks the lads were delighted. But we think Ireland team manager Mick Kearney is probably not too happy now, and Sean O’Brien is out of pocket too.
Here’s what happened. Lowry showed the lads a trick where he throws the golf ball up and hits it with his driver acting as hurley. The Carlow back row decided he wanted a go and after a few attempts he got the hang of it.
Problem was he was using Kearney’s driver and in the process of the trick shot he managed to snap the head off the club, costing O’Brien a fair few euros to replace we imagine.
All the action was captured on Andrew Trimble’s phone and, thanks to Twitter, we can now all see it.
At least it kept them busy for a while and if Sean O’Brien asks to borrow your golf clubs, just say no.
Watch the clip for yourself below, though you might have to tilt your head until our techies get a chance to rotate it.
