This is what it’s all about folks…
Achill and the Aran Island’s played each other recently in the AIB GAA Connacht Junior Football Championship with supporters and teams travelling around 200km by land and sea to line out in Tuam Stadium, Galway.
GAA players up and down the country make sacrifices travelling home for training and matches every week with their local clubs and nothing is said or heard about them.
They do it so that they can taste success with the people they grew up and went to school with and their friends and family.
County players make these sacrifices and get the recognition but nothing is heard of the man who returns to Cork or Mayo from Dublin every Tuesday on the off-chance that they may line up for their club in a final at the end of the year.
This AIB video shows what supporters of the two islands had to go through to support their team in the Connacht Final and also shows the players speaking about why they do it.
It’s why we love the GAA.
We thought the video summed up all that is good about the GAA as it shows the love the players have for the game and high standing they earn in their communities because of their exploits.
