Video: Remember Neil Back’s number being leaked on Twitter? Turns out it was all part of a brilliant prank

Well played

Conor Heneghan

Hats off to Heineken and Neil Back, they’ve played a blinder here.

You might remember a couple of weeks back when the number of England rugby legend Neil Back, a man, ahem, ‘beloved’ by Munster fans, was seemingly accidentally leaked on Twitter during a promotional shoot for the knockout stages of the European Rugby Champions’ Cup.

Given his history in this country, particularly with Munster, the opportunity to send Neil a cheeky text was too much for some to resist.

Little did they know, however, that those texts would set in motion a chain of events that would lead to a quite brilliant prize, although there would be a fair bit of embarrassment involved along the way, including a face to face encounter with Mr. Back himself.

Rugby-mad Dubliners Eamonn Dromgoole (25), Phillip McGauran (26) and Cormac Murphy (28) couldn’t have imagined what they were letting themselves in for, but they soon found themselves in a sticky scenario thanks to #RunWithIt, Heineken’s campaign to kick-start the knock-out stages of the European Rugby Champions Cup (ERC).

We won’t spoil the surprise for you and will let you see how a brilliantly executed stitch up played out in the video above as luckily, Heineken was there to capture the whole thing.

The stunt was created by Heineken to unveil #RunWithIt, a campaign that calls on fans to embrace the unpredictability of European rugby to be in with a chance of winning some amazing, money-can’t-buy prizes.

To be in with a chance to win a VIP trip to this season’s Twickenham finale, simply visit www.facebook.com/heineken and tag your friend who would be most likely to #RunWithIt if they ended up in a tricky spot.
