This guy is a monster…
You might recall a story we brought you a couple of months back of the 135 kilo, 18-year-old prop named Taniela Tupou, who was lighting up schools rugby in New Zealand.
Well Tupou, nicknamed the ‘Tongan Thor’, has signed with Super Rugby side Queensland Reds in Australia and will link up with the likes of Quade Cooper and Will Genia at the Sydney side next season.
The ‘Tongan Thor’ shot to stardom when a video was released of him scoring a hat trick of tries for Sacred Heart College in Auckland and he became a much sought after prospect as even a handful of European clubs joining the race to sign him.
Let’s be honest, this was basically everyone’s reaction when they saw his original video…

As a prop he is understandably bulky (to put it mildly), but the ‘Tongan Thor’ has an impressive sidestep and a great set of wheels once he breaks the line, making him a nightmare for any opposition, especially at schools level where the majority of players wouldn’t have fully physically developed yet.
Whether or not this YouTube sensation will flop or thrive remains to be seen but JOE reckons he could make a pretty decent Junior B full-back if the whole rugby thing doesn’t work out for him.
