Can he kick it? Well, yes he can in fact. The big left boot of Rob Kearney is famed throughout the rugby world. An injury may have limited his pitch time Down Under so far but we wouldn’t bet against the Leinster getting some Test time before the tour is over.
But before he set off for Australia, Rob Kearney took some time out at Carton House to try and teach two of our own rugby wannabees, Jerry Flannery and Alan Metcalfe. We’ve heard rumours that Jerry had a bit of playing experience under his belt but the world of kicking was a mystery to the former front row. As for Al, well, let’s just say he’s more familiar with Gary Player than Garryowen.
Undaunted, Rob did his best to show the lads how to launch the perfect spiral and bomb and a few other tricks. We’ll let you judge how well our boys got on but as an insight into the technique involved in kicking a rugby ball just right, this clip should help any rugby hopefuls out there.
