Safe to say this guy got nailed in the tackle a little later on in this game.
When used correctly in rugby, the sidestep is a brilliant skill and often very effective for the likes of Quade Cooper and Bryan Habana and others who make it look easy and make the opposition look a little foolish in the process.
We appreciate a good sidestep as much as the next man but what we don’t appreciate is when it is blatantly used to take the p*ss out of a direct opponent, as appeared to be the case when Brendon Curle scored this try in a sevens game in the US recently.
He scored the try so he can claim that the tactic was effective, but there was more than a hint of showboating involved, which continued when he teased the would-be tackler by showing him the ball before touching down in the corner.
We didn’t see the rest of the game so we can’t tell how the opposition reacted, but we would be amazed if he didn’t get put on his arse by a particularly heavy tackle afterwards; karma can be a bitch like that.
