Just over two months after his return to boxing, Ricky Hatton has decided to hang up his gloves again after defeat to Vyacheslav Senchenko on his comeback last night.

It was always asking a lot for The Hitman to make a proper go of a comeback after over three years without a professional fight and some well publicised troubles in his personal life and so it proved as Ukrainian boxer Senchenko left him out for the count with a vicious body blow in the ninth round.

While Hatton was undoubtedly second best on the night, he gave a decent account of himself and held his head high as he announced his decision to call it quits for good afterwards.

“That’s it for Ricky Hatton,” he said.

“I haven’t got it any more. I had a good cry. But I’m a happy man. I don’t feel like killing myself, I don’t feel like slitting my wrists. I’m not going to put my loved ones through that again. I’ve put my demons to bed.”

Have a look at what, barring another ill-fated comeback, should be the Hitman’s last ever round as a professional boxer in the video above.
