Video: Tennis can be very dangerous for line judges

Wimbledon might look like the most gentle and serene sporting event on earth but it can be dangerous for some involved; the line judges.

With big serves coming down on them all the time, the line judges, particularly those on the centre line, have to be brave enough to stay on line to see the ball and then quick enough to dodge it before it hits them.

Usually they do this very well but this poor line judge wasn’t quick enough and took a 118mph Mardy Fish serve right in the eye. She had to leave as she couldn’t see, a bit of a handicap if you are a line judge.

We hope she’s okay but we would have liked to see a bit more concern from Fish, who didn’t even appear to apologise. At Least Jo Wilfried Tsonga had the decency to make a Gary Lineker/Gazza Italia 90 face.

Still, what David Nalbandian did a few weeks ago was worse. Tennis is getting very dangerous.

Thanks to @cianer31son for ending it our way.
