Ten years on from the classic that was ‘The Rod Squad’, Roddy Collins is back on our screens next month in a new documentary on Setanta.

The Rod Squad, the tale of Irish football manager Roddy Collins’ time in charge of Carlisle in England in 2002/03, was a stone-cold sports doc classic for many reasons. It was funny, sad, engaging and nerve-jangling, often all in the same scene.

Now, after many ups and downs in the intervening decade, the people at Loosehorse Television have nabbed Collins for a sequel. This time Roddy is in charge of Monaghan Town and it follows his time there which, if you follow League of Ireland football, you’ll know was wild enough.

Based on the trailer, it should be as entertaining as the first show ever was and the below clip is peppered with ‘dressing room language’ so maybe stick the headphones in if you’re at work. You can catch it on Setanta from June 10.
