This is what football is about.
All the media focus will be on England this morning as their abject performance in Euro 2016 will rightfully be highlighted but there’s one thing that football fans need to remember, Iceland were bloody good!
The 2-1 win wasn’t by fluke because Lars Lagerbäck and Heimir Hallgrímsson’s team were deserved winners against England, in fact, they probably could have won the game by an even bigger margin if they took some of the chances that they created in the latter stages of the match.
With a population of just over 330,000, Iceland’s win against Hodgson’s side could arguably be the biggest upset in European Championship history and here’s what the 2-1 victory meant to their supporters back home in Reykjavík.
Wonderful scenes.
