Video: This 13-year-old Romanian basketball player is 7’4 and attracting attention from the NBA

How tall is too tall?

Robert Bobroczky is Europe’s tallest teenager and he is making waves in the competitive world of basketball.

According to AU News, the 7’4 or 2.26m teenager is continuing to grow at a rate of 10cm, or almost four inches, every year. If he keeps up this amazing growth he will be 8’4 by the time of his 16th birthday.

Just have a look at him in action against other teenagers below.

Bobroczky recently joined Italian team Stella Azzurra Rome, the same team that produced big man Andrea Bargnani, the number one pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Rumours are also circulating that he is being scouted by a number of NBA clubs as he is already taller than the tallest professional player currently playing in the NBA; that’s Hasheem Thabeet, who stands at 2.21m.

Hasheem Thabeet is currently the tallest player in the NBA

In fact, at this moment, if Bobroczky does end up appearing in the NBA, he will be one of only 20 players over 2.21m to ever play in the professional basketball franchise.

We think that if the whole NBA thing doesn’t work out out, he might be quite a useful full-forward for any GAA team in a few years if he manages to bulk up a little.

Just a thought…
