Even if your job entails handing out flowers to runners at the end of the race, you had better steer clear of the world’s fastest man.
On Thursday night Usain Bolt recorded the second fastest 100m time of the year – he has the record for first and third, by the way – at the International Diamond Meet, though he nearly took out a blonde flower girl in the process.
Rather than waiting for Bolt after he recorded a time of 9.79 seconds and began to slow down, the girl curiously ran in his direction and smacked right into into the Olympian.
Luckily Bolt spared the girl’s blushes by holding her uptight while still running and putting an arm around to check if she was OK afterwards. He didn’t even take the flowers though – what’s that all about?
After his display on Thursday night the message is clear – Bolt’s biggest rivals and more importantly, over-friendly flower girls, had better watch out when the Jamaican takes the London Olympic Games by storm.
